Here at Milton E. Long Library, our goal is to provide higher quality services to our patrons. Our mission is to support and encourage a lifelong love of reading, learning, and personal growth the families among our amazing military community’s service members and families at Fort Moore. 

Aside from an extensive collection of print material, our library offers a variety of equipment and services, including free wireless internet, 77 desktop computers, thousands of DVDs and CDs, audiobooks, and children’s programs. Our research and reference resources are second to none, and our librarians are always happy to help.

Patrons must have a library account to place a hold. If you do not have a library account, you need to come in and register for one.

Summer Reading Program

It’s that time of year again – participate in the 2024 Summer Reading Program (SRP) at the Milton E. Long Library on Fort Moore!  Join us for ‘Read, Renew, Repeat’ with the Army Family & MWR Library Summer Reading Program presented by the Department of Defense (DoD) MWR Libraries, supporting Sponsor of the 2024 SRP is AT&T.

During the summer months of June and July, Army Family & MWR Libraries around the world will host a range of free activities for children, teens, and adults that encourage and support a love of reading.

Participants can earn incentives by reaching their reading and activity goals.  Sign up online and stop by your library today! Registration is simple!

  1.  Register online at https://fortmoore.beanstack.org/reader365 – Fort Moore!  Registration runs from June 1 until July 24.
  2. Log your reading minutes and activities.
  3. Earn rewards!

But that’s not all!  Join us for fun events which will feature different performers every time we meet, from puppeteers, magicians, story tellers and more!

Light refreshments provided. Participants who reach the reading level per week may pick up their incentives at each event after the entertainment. All incentives are on first come, first served basis, while supplies last!

Registration begins June 1 and is open through July 24! Once registered, participants may begin logging their minutes. The last day to log minutes is July 24!  Call the Milton E. Long Library for any questions you may have at +1 (706) 545-4911.

Who is Eligible?

  • All active-duty military and their dependents.
  • Retired Veteran and their dependents
  • Civilian employees or contract employees who possess a Military ID.
  • Members of the Armed forces, Foreign Service members, and students who are currently TDY or training at Fort Moore may obtain a library account, if patron is at Fort Moore 3 weeks or more.

How do I obtain my library account and what do I need?

  • Come into our library and stop by the circulation desk and our friendly staff can help you set up your account.
  • Make sure to have your military ID, unit information, and current mailing address.

What can I use my library account for?

  • Patrons may use their library accounts for the following:
    • To checkout, renew, or reserve any of the following materials: books, DVDs, music CDs, audiobooks, and video games.
    • To access all online resources offered by our facility.

  • Patrons will have access to over 100,000 materials in books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, and video games.

  • DVD players may be checked out for use in our common media room.

  • A TV located in the Teen Zone on the first floor is available to play video games, using either our Xbox One or PS4 consoles. Ask our library staff at the circulation desk how you can reserve time for use.

  • Our library has a fully equipped computer lab, located on the second floor.

  • Patrons can reserve one of our four study rooms, our conference room, or our program room.

  • Our library offers free Wi-Fi connection to all our patrons.

  • An after-hours book drop is available, with two drop boxes located behind our facility and a third located in the front of the facility.

Story Time | Wednesdays at 10:30am

  • Story time provides an engaging hour for both parents/caregivers and their children ages 0-6yrs of age. Library staff reads books, sings songs, and does a craft, encouraging a lifelong love of reading and learning.

Family Movie Night | 1st and 4th Friday of each month at 4 p.m.

  • We’ll be screening both new and old films, delightful family-friendly films that promise an enjoyable experience for all ages. This program is free and is open to everyone with children. Come and join us as we turn our program room on the 2nd floor into a mini movie theater!  Bring the family, blankets and you can bring along food and drinks.

Movie Time | 1st Saturday of each month at 4 p.m.

  • Our free Movie Time afternoon is geared toward all ages including a wide range of movies, whether you’re a family, a group of friends, or a solo movie enthusiast, this program is perfect for everyone. Come and join us as we turn our program room on the 2nd floor into a mini movie theater! Bring the family, blankets and you can bring along food and drinks. Please note:  Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Book to Movie Club | Last Tuesday of each month, 4 - 6 p.m.

  • The Book to Movie club is a monthly program that brings together people who love books and movies. The group will meet to discuss the book and watch its movie adaptation.  Click here for book/movie of the month.

Computer Lab Services

Computers

  • Our computer lab is fully equipped with 77 desktop computers. They are available on a first come first-served basis and are open to Active-Duty Service members and their families, Retired Military, and to DoD civilians and contractors.
  • All our computers come fully equipped with CAC reads, have access to Microsoft Office programs, and Adobe Acrobat Reader. Computer access may be utilized for one hour and patrons may extend sessions upon request.

Printing Machines

  • All printing machines are in the computer lab located on the second floor. Printing is only available using our facility computers. No outside devices may print to our printers.  ** Machines only take nickels, quarters, dimes, and single dollar bills.
    • Printing Fees
      • B&W: $0.10/ sheet
      • Color: $0.25/sheet

Copy Machines

  • Our library has two copy machines available for use, one located on the first floor and the other located on the second floor. Faxing is not available on these machines.  ** Machines only take nickels, quarters, dimes, and single dollar bills. 
    • Copy Fees
      • B&W: $0.10/ sheet
      • Color: $0.25/sheet

Scanning

  • Our computer lab is equipped with five scanners which are available for use upon request. All scans are free.
