In a typical summer, we celebrate Independence Day a little early! Our annual Independence Celebration provides Soldiers, their families and our surrounding community a safe environment to enjoy a concert, a fantastic fireworks show and fun in the sun!

Two chart-topping artists will perform a free concert at the first Independence Celebration to be held at Fort Moore, Georgia, on June 24, 2023. Festivities kick off at 5 p.m. and include military demonstrations, food ven-dors, children’s activities and the largest fireworks display in the Chattahoochee Valley.

Black Stone Cherry, a Southern rock ‘n’ roll band, heats up the stage at 7 p.m., performing hits from throughout their two-decade career. Country music upstart Jameson Rodgers will perform his rowdy live show at 8:45 p.m. Black Rhino Sound, the electrifying Texas DJ, returns this year to kick off the evening and energize the crowd at 5:30 p.m.

Fort Benning will be redesignated as Fort Moore in a ceremony on May 11, in honor of Lt. General Hal and Julia Moore. Although the name will change, the time-honored tradition of celebrating our nation’s independence with the local community will not. The public is invited to join our Soldiers and their families for a free concert, fireworks and more!

Black Stone Cherry is kicking the door open into 2023, releasing their first new song “Out of Pocket” since their 2020 album “The Human Condition.” Over the past two decades, the Kentucky Southern rockers have shaken stages from arenas to festivals, in the US and across Europe, performing hit singles, including “Blame it on the Boom Boom” and “White Trash Millionaire.”

Jameson Rodgers made his name on the road, headlining his own sold-out concerts and opening for Luke Combs, Florida Georgia Line, Darius Rucker, Sam Hunt and Luke Bryan. The hard-touring country artist is a MusicRow Discovery Artist of the Year winner and iHeartRadio Music Awards nominee. Career standouts in-clude “Midnight Daydream” and Platinum-certified No. 1 hits “Some Girls” and follow-up smash “Cold Beer Calling My Name.”

The 2023 Independence Celebration, presented by Kia AutoSport, will also include a Kids Zone sponsored by Headquarter Nissan, aerial demonstrations by the Silver Wings and Fries & Spies, 34-foot jump towers and a variety of vendors with food and beverages available for purchase.

The Maneuver Center of Excellence Band concludes the evening with a patriotic score choreographed to the largest, grandest fireworks show in the area, sponsored by Headquarter Nissan.

The 2023 Fort Moore Independence Celebration starts at 5 p.m. on York Field, located on Eckel Avenue in front of McGinnis-Wickam Hall, Building 4.

The Fort Moore 2023 Independence Celebration is presented by KIA AutoSport and sponsored by Headquarter Nissan, the Gary Sinise Foundation and USAA (sponsorship does not imply endorsement).
