Beginner Pistol Training Course

The Beginner Pistol Training Course offered at the Recreational Shooting Complex is a great way to learn the basics of firearm safety and handgun fundamentals. This course is perfect for those who are new to shooting or have just purchased a handgun and want to gain the skills on how to use it safely. Training will be conducted in a classroom setting and culminate on the range where each student will learn how to shoot. Topics covered in the training include:

  • Firearms safety
  • Handgun types
  • Handgun parts
  • Types and safe handling of ammunition
  • Loading and unloading a handgun
  • Fundamentals of shooting a handgun
  • Cleaning and maintaining a handgun
  • Safe storage of a firearm

The next course will be held on Saturday, March 2, from 9 a.m. – noon. The course fee is $65 per person and includes a rental weapon, ammunition, target, eye protection and hearing protection. Class size is limited, and pre-registration is required. Must be 18 or older to sign up.
